Why Reading Is Hard I recently came across an interesting website that tries to answer the question of why the teaching of reading is indeed hard. This website was created to help visitors see the challenges that readers face. Teaching children to read is highly skilled work, and teaching children to read in a language that is not their mother tongue is particularly challenging. Catherine Snow, a reading researcher and professor at Harvard University, spoke about these issues at a workshop for educators and it is displayed digitally on this interesting website. I recommend that you take a few minutes and visit this interest site. You will need a free copy of Quicktime software to view the site.
